This is part of the pattern language developed by TKWA for the Cincinnati Nature Center.

All too often, children are asked to “behave”, even when outside at the Nature Center. On the other hand, the sight of kids trampling over fragile plants and habitats can curdle the blood of an adult nature lover.

Therefore:

Establish a range of outdoor places with a gradient of ecosystem sensitivity. CNC is the perfect place to teach sensitivity through immersion rather than restriction. Make sure to accommodate attending adults, many of whom may be seniors, with comfortable places to sit and observe. Size: 2.5 acres for the public, .5 acre for the preschool
